Welcome to Wilton Woods
Located approximately 10 miles south of Washington D.C., Wilton Woods is a unique leafy neighborhood. The 114 acres that make up Wilton Woods was originally part of the Wilton Hall estate, owned by John Jacob Frobel, a gardener at Mount Vernon. The friendly neighborhood has many longtime residents as well as returning residents who grew up here and returned with their own families years later. In 2021 we sold a Wilton Woods property where the homeowners and their neighbors, now best friends, had lived there for over 30 years.
Development of Wilton Woods began in 1941 by local developer, Charles Crain, who started with 23 traditional colonial homes. Any subsequent homes built on his land were to fit this style, a standard that was upheld until Crain’s death in the late 1960s. Each home was unique, many of them featured an anchor positioned somewhere on the property, some still remain. More homes have been built since; they are generally larger but retain the traditional style.
Once in the community you would have no idea that such fantastic transport links are so close by. Wilton Woods is generally sandwiched between Franconia and Telegraph Road, the Beltway is moments away and the Huntingdon Metro is just 5 miles away.
Along with the fantastic transport links are the wonderful nearby amenities. The Lee District Rec Center has an Olympic-sized heated indoor pool with springboards, saunas, fitness room, indoor gymnasium, racquetball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, football fields and much more! If golf is more your thing, then Greendale Golf Course is worth exploring. The 18-hole 148-acre regulation course can be challenging with Bermuda fairways and several water hazards. After all that activity you can relax in one of the many spas in Old Town, just 10 minutes away, and enjoy some retail therapy with an endless supply of boutiques and restaurants. Within 7 minutes is the Hoffman Town Center with restaurants, shops, an AMC movie theatre and a new Wegmans!
